About Us
We are proud to have been the first school in the country to attain the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Level 2 award. This means that we teach the children the UN Convention the Rights of the Child through Respect and Responsibility. We have been leaders in the county with this approach and have assisted the county to train most other primary schools about RRR (Rights, Respect and Responsibility). All the RRR work helps to enhance our strong behaviour policy known as the Knights Code which emphasises the positive, praising children for good work and attitude. Through this children are able to earn certificates which are given out during our Friday morning celebration assembly; this assembly also includes children proudly showing good work, many parents attend this assembly.
In December 2007 we went through a successful OFSTED inspection. The report stated that 'Knights Enham Junior School is a good school with outstanding features'. For full details see the OFSTED website.
We have recently been accredited with the Healthy Schools Award. We are also holders of the Bronze Eco Schools Award.
We have many extra curricular activities including Football, Netball, Tag Rugby, Art, Gardening, Knitting, Computer, Choir, Recorder, Drama, Rounders, Country Dancing and Kwik Cricket. Most children in the school partake in at least one of these activities. Through these we are able to take part in many sporting events. We were very proud last year to win the Fair Play Trophy at the Tag Rugby Tournament, which symbolises our whole school culture. Our Year 4/5 football team won the 2008 Harrow Way Cluster Trophy.
We deliver a varied and rich curriculum, believing in bringing the curriculum to life. To that end we have touring companies into school to perform to the children or to help them with their studies. We also believe in taking aspects of the curriculum to the community. Every Christmas we sing and play the recorder to some local nursing homes. In addition we visit them in the summer to perform country dancing.
Year 6 children attend a residential at Hooke Court in Dorset whilst the other year groups go on regular visits. Last academic year saw Upper School visit the London Palladium to see the Sound of Music. Lower School also visited London. They went to the O2 Arena to see the Tutankhamun Exhibition and they also visited the Houses of Parliament. Gifted and Talented Children visited Harrow Way as part of their studies.
